I grew up right here in the area and graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest. I went on to KU, where I majored in Math Education. Initially, I planned to be a high school math teacher. However, while working on my Master’s degree in Math, I discovered I really enjoyed teaching at the college level more. After graduation, I started teaching at various colleges. I’ve been a part of the Math Department at JCCC since 2002! My absolute favorite class to teach is Calculus II. Students often find it challenging, but it’s incredibly gratifying to watch you rise to the occasion and succeed! I also enjoy teaching Statistics and the Math & Physics for Games course. In my personal life, I’m married with three kids: two are in college and one is in middle school. When I find some free time, I love playing the guitar. It’s been a lifelong hobby. Most recently, I’ve started trying to play jazz, which is proving to be a real challenge!
